Helping Children to Help Themselves

Perhaps one of the most amazing things about being a child is the having the natural ability to solve your own problems, bounce back from setbacks and to learn from your mistakes.  Every single child possesses that ability.  Sadly, every child is not raised in an environment that nurtures these natural inclinations.  Poverty along with harsh social and political constraints prevents many children from being children.

Children of the Caribbean Foundation has as one of it’s goals “to foster self-empowerment within young ones over a period of time.”

Knowing that children who feel empowered:

  • Comprehends the long-term consequences of their behaviors
  • Think for themselves
  • Feel great about themselves

The Foundation strives through its programs to foster independent children.  The Summer Volunteer Program – Project ASPIRE (link to project ASPIRE) was established with the goal of empowering children all over the world through teaching them skills, nurturing their confidence, and allowing them to work with their peers from other countries within a safe environment.
